Anti-Drug and Narcotic Cells (ADNCs) are specialized units within institutions, organizations, or communities dedicated to combating drug use and its associated harms. This cell plays a crucial role in preventing drug misuse, supporting individuals struggling with addiction, and promoting overall well-being.

SIGNIFICANCE OF ANTI – DRUG AND NARCOTIC CELL

Drug use among college students is a major concern, with studies showing that a significant portion of students use illicit drugs at least once during their college years. This widespread use poses a significant threat to students' health and well- being, impacting their academic performance, mental and physical health, and safety.

OBJECTIVES

  • Prevent and reduce drug use: ADNCs implement educational programs, raise awareness about the dangers of drug use, and promote healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Identify and support individuals at risk: ADNCs utilize various methods to identify individuals susceptible to drug use and offer support services such as counseling and referrals to treatment facilities.
  • Provide intervention and support services: ADNCs offer confidential support services for individuals struggling with drug use, including counseling, rehabilitation programs, and recovery support groups.
  • Promote a drug-free environment: ADNCs implement policies and regulations to discourage drug use within their jurisdiction, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: ADNCs work closely with law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals, educational institutions, and other community stakeholders to implement comprehensive anti-drug strategies.

ACTIVITIES

  • Organizing educational workshops and awareness campaigns: Educating individuals about the harmful effects of drug use, addiction, and legal consequences.
  • Conducting drug screenings and assessments: Identifying individuals at risk of developing addiction and offering support services.
  • Providing counseling and referral services: Connecting individuals with mental health professionals, treatment facilities, and recovery support groups.
  • Developing and implementing prevention programs: Implementing targeted interventions for specific populations or drug types.
  • Advocating for policies and regulations: Promoting policies that discourage drug use and provide support for individuals struggling with addiction.

Standard Operating Procedure

SOP for conducting various activities under the Cell.

  • Meeting with members of the Cell for taking decisions about activities.
  • Forwarding request letter to Principal.
  • Preparing notice for the relevant program after getting sanction from Principal.
  • Preparing brochure for the program to inform students & teachers.
  • Preparing report with geotag photos.
  • Attendance of the participants (if required).
  • Certificate for the winners (if required).
