STAFF DEVELOPMENT CLUB
Overview
Staff development refers to all the policies, practices, and procedures used to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies of staff to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of both the individual and the Institution. This club is formed to facilitate the development of academic and cultural activities among the faculty members. Staff development embraces all forms of development activity including personal study, e-learning, internal or external courses, workshops, work shadowing and planned experiences. The main aim of the policy is to provide staff with a framework that supports and encourages the development of all staff.
Need for Staff Development
- To add or improve skills needed in the short-term.
- To evaluate and assess the past performance.
- To analyze the competency of persons to increase their knowledge.
- To motivate and provide assistance to faculty members as and when needed.
- To provide various training programmes to enhance technical and teaching aptitudes of faculty members.
- To make members able to coordinate and conduct various activities on various events organized by college.
- To change or correct any unusual behaviour of faculty members.
- To report the issues and problems of faculty members to the management
- To enable faculty members to handle any situation.
- To make faculty members able to work without prejudice.
- To promote various interactions among faculty members to develop personal and professional bonds.
- To improve the enthusiastic and friendly working atmosphere in the college by organizing various functions with the help of students.

- Staff development club primarily aims to facilitate versatile development of the faculty members.
- Staff development club is formed to foster good academic ambiance in the college by stimulating healthy relationship between faculty members and students.
- This club is to plan and conduct various developmental activities, workshops, seminars etc.
- Staff development club also focused to provide opportunities to the faculty members for expressing new ideas.
- One of the main objectives of this club is to understand issues and challenges faced by faculty members and provide solutions to them.
- This club looks after the welfare of the faculty members in such a way that they are involved actively in the teaching and evaluation process and also development of the college.
- This club takes appropriate actions to enable all faculty members to be trained at the levels appropriate to their role, in order to ensure the college is compliant with respect to its statutory obligations.
- This club also concentrates to develop a coordinated approach in maximizing the use of available resources.
- All faculty members are supported and encouraged to acquire and develop relevant knowledge, skills and competencies to enhance their performance in their current role and, where they are involved in succession planning, for their next role within the institution.
Staff Club Functions
- Organizes and conducts various cultural activities on the occasions of festivals.
- Provide Training to faculty members - Training is an ideal method when it comes to addressing both Hard (technical) and Soft (communications, conflict resolution, time management) skills.
- Mentoring – This helps the faculty members to enhance their skills with the help of experienced staffs.
- Workshops, Seminars, Developmental Programmes etc.- These helps the faculty members to interact with colleagues from within and external to the organization.
- Giving farewells on the eve of retirements of retiring staffs.
- Felicitating faculty members who have been awarded doctorates, fellowships or other awards.
- Organizing staff tours
- Organize outreach and charity programmes like visiting old age homes, poor homes, collection and disbursement of food and clothes.

- Develop a master calendar for an entire year
- Develop and maintain staff development record system
- Establish files on major educational topics
- Regularly evaluate the staff development program
