IEDC

IEDC stands for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre. It's an initiative to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup ecosystem in academic institutions, such as universities, colleges, and engineering schools.

Objectives of IEDC

  • Promote innovation and entrepreneurship: Encourage students, faculty, and staff to develop innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Support startup ecosystem: Provide resources, mentorship, and funding support to startups and entrepreneurs.
  • Foster industry-academia collaboration: Bridge the gap between industry and academia by promoting collaborative research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.pers in journal and conferences and also by undertaking Major and Minor Research Projects.
  • Develop entrepreneurial skills: Offer training, workshops, and programs to develop entrepreneurial skills, such as idea generation, business planning, and pitching.

1. Purpose

To empower students with innovative ideas by providing guidance, mentorship, funding opportunities, and collaboration with external organizations like the Kerala Startup Mission.

2. Goals

  • Encourage entrepreneurial thinking among students.

  • Facilitate connections with startup ecosystems for funding and mentorship.

3. Key Components

A. Student & Faculty Coordinators

  • Each department nominates a Student Coordinator and a Faculty Coordinator to lead the initiative.
    • Responsibilities:
    • Promote the program among students.
    • Facilitate idea submissions and reviews.
    • Act as liaison with external partners like Kerala Startup Mission.

    B. Idea Submission Platform

  • A centralized portal or form where students submit their startup ideas.
    • Key Information Required:
    • Problem statement
    • Proposed solution
    • Target audience
    • Estimated resources and funding required

    Feasibility Analysis and Marketing Guidance

    • Expert panels (faculty and industry experts) to:
    • Evaluate the feasibility of ideas.
    • Provide constructive feedback and improvements.
    • Guide on marketing strategies and tools.

    D. Funding Support

    • Connect students with funding sources such as:
    • Kerala Startup Mission grants.
    • Crowdfunding platforms.
    • Angel investors and venture capitalists.

    4. How It Works

      1. Idea Submission:
      • Students submit their startup ideas through the designated portal or form.
      2. Screening and Feedback:
      • Student and faculty coordinators review and shortlist ideas.
      • Shortlisted ideas are refined with expert feedback.
      3. Counseling and Mentorship:
      • Connect students with Kerala Startup Mission mentors for one-on-one guidance.
      4. Workshops:
      • Organize boot camps to train students on essential entrepreneurial skills.
      5. Pitching Sessions:
      • Students present their ideas to potential investors or funding bodies.
      6. Continuous Monitoring:
      • Coordinators track the progress of selected startups and provide ongoing support.
