INTERNAL COMPLAINT COMMITTEE(ICC)
CONSTITUTION
The Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) in a college plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe and inclusive environment, particularly in addressing issues related to sexual harassment. Its importance lies in creating a framework that not only complies with legal mandates but also ensures the protection and well-being of all individuals within the academic community. The ICC is instrumental in preventing and addressing instances of sexual harassment. By having a dedicated committee, colleges can establish a systematic and confidential channel for individuals to report any form of harassment they may experience or witness. This proactive approach is crucial in cultivating an atmosphere of trust and security, encouraging victims to come forward without fear of reprisal and promoting a culture of respect.
VISION
To create a platform where all women can express their needs and priorities, where every woman is respected, and where each woman can achieve her potential, living free from harm and discrimination.
MISSION
- To create a healthy environment on campus where every girl feels safe and self-confident, without encountering issues related to gender discrimination and sexual harassment.
- To ensure the implementation of policies in both letter and spirit through proper reporting of complaints and follow-up procedures.
- To uphold the Institute's commitment to providing an environment free of gender-based discrimination.
OBJECTIVES &FUNCTIONS
- Prevention and Awareness: The primary objective of the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) is to proactively prevent incidents of sexual harassment within the college community. This involves creating awareness through education programs, workshops, and campaigns to promote a culture of respect, consent, and zero tolerance for harassment.
- Responsive Redressal: The ICC aims to provide a fair and efficient redressal mechanism for individuals who have experienced or witnessed sexual harassment. This involves prompt and thorough investigations into reported incidents, ensuring confidentiality, and delivering appropriate consequences to perpetrators based on the findings.
- Education and Training: The committee is responsible for organizing regular educational programs and training sessions for students, faculty, and staff. These initiatives focus on raising awareness about sexual harassment, its various forms, the legal implications, and the reporting procedures, fostering a better understanding within the college community
- Confidential Reporting Channels: Establishing confidential reporting channels is a key objective of the ICC. This ensures that individuals can report incidents without fear of retaliation, fostering an environment where victims feel safe and supported in coming forward with their concerns.
